We use bar charts in other types of analyses and reviews. However, while bar charts may be more intuitive or pleasing to the eye, we find them less informative and helpful when comparing different display driver versions. The reason is that the expected and usual performance differences in games are still negligible or minor, even when they are significant according to the margin of error used, both in terms of the values ​​of the performance metrics and the percentages of improvement or regression calculated. Therefore, in this case, the bar charts do not seem the most appropriate representation to identify, highlight and show small but significant eventual differences between different versions of drivers.

Anyway, other times, when the raw performance differences were very noticeable or notable, or there was some major stuttering or frame-pacing issue in a specific game, we have added bar charts and L-Shapes to describe and comment on these less frequent cases.

There are also efficiency reasons due to the size of the sample of games we use in this type of performance analysis. Ultimately, it is a personal decision based on the reviewer’s preferences. Also, you are always free to look for other sources of information that are more to your liking.
